I spent a good chunk of the weekend dirtying the truck up, I'm going for an old truck thats been looked after look.
I almost didn't post this because I'm ashamed of the mess I made off these. I went to strip the paint down, popped them in some acetone for 1 minute, got distracted and came back to a right old mess.
Knowing that even if I could get them separately they would take forever to get here I decided to model and print some new ones.
3 hours later and we are good to go again.
It's been forever since I've had a chance to work on the truck so I decided to make a delivery to go in the back of my (still unfinished) GC4 BC Model RC delivery truck.
In retrospect maybe the 48 miniature nails in the pallet may off been overkill, but at least I know they're there. I made the boxes using Photoshop, printed onto card and assembled.
The bungee cords were made from paperclips and hair bands. They look good, but the scale is a little on the large size.
I found the perfect (well almost perfect) scale man for the truck in Toys'r'Us, it's one of the lesser know guys from Aliens. I stripped all the extra armour of him, cut the middle of his waist out and he fitted straight in.
Weather the cab and seats then added a map and spare boots. I'm please with the way its looking.
Started work on the interior, the dashboard instruments are too tricky to paint so I designed them in Photoshop and printed them out. I also made the instruction and information panels. Yes they are small and fiddly.
Hunted around the internet looking for reference for the interior of the cab. The CrossRC GC4 is a scale model of the Gaz66.
I decided to use wood for all the parts that would be wood instead of using the abs parts and painting them up to look like wood. It might not be as strong by I think it's looks a lot better.
The battery bay has been integrated into the design of the truck which makes a change as it's in an easy place to get to.
Still a long way to go....
Started the painting of the outside, I'm liking the red and weathering this truck is going to be fun....
